Also adding iPad layout improvements, with benefits of improving the look on iPhone Duo - not hating it, but needs further tweaks.
Will continue to keep slowly iterating - it's good enough for the Duo launch.
Configuring a widget in @getdashlet.app becomes quite annoying, if you can't really see what your changes are doing (and have to scroll back up to the top all the time).
Upcoming version will have this change keeping the widget preview visible at all times.
They could share it - but since endpoints are not controlled by the app (users bring their own data endpoints) this is all more of an FYI for them, to know what their endpoints are doing. It could help debug a widget never finishing an update, though.
The diagnostics are user visible… but currently not exportable. This is more so the user can know what their endpoints are doing. Stale can be seen from the freshness label on the widget itself (same for if a refresh failed, that will be indicated). For slow - that’s what diagnostics are for
Each widget shows the recency of their data - but inside the app, each data source has a diagnostics log of all the refresh requests it made, their latency and status (and in case of failure, the reason for it).
The data was always "fresh" - unless `URLSession` defaulted to a stale cache. I tried really hard to make refreshes as limited and consolidated as possible, to keep the battery life as good as possible - the biggest impact comes from the number of different data sources.
Auto-hiding controls is a thoughtful dashboard detail because the data gets the space until you need to change it.
