This is not a normal situation in which normal diplomacy works, as if this is a partner and it's a regular disagreement. This is a bully, an empire in decline, and we're pretending it's just business as usual.

...but when is it that we come to a moment when we actually stand up for something, not try to appease them, every step of the way. We are all about words. How do you have a dialogue with that regime, which is completely off the rails?!? and has been since they came back into office.

It may be easier to anticipate what the ICJ judges in the SA v Israel case will say once the Gambia v Myanmar judgment is out, at the end of this year. The definition and understanding of what genocide is is also at stake in that case.
