Ahem

It's the end of September! Pick your gold star for effort or lack of effort or results or lack of results. We love you either way 😍

Hey here's an awesome idea let's hand our creativity over to robots and raise the price of everything until we're in permanent survival mode. Who's in?

Impatient to perform the magic storytelling ritual tbh

Is that... is that a good thing?!

Hmm there's something suss going on here

Everything is not in the publishing and the plaudits (although that's nice). Everything is in the creating.

Writers are in the business of being as human as we goddamn can. That's measured by vibes, by the way we feel, by gauging how well we’ve managed to communicate the thing we want to communicate in our writing.

What about success as showing up to our writing in a way that fits in our lives and that gives us a creative practice we actually love.

What about success as our personal exploration of humanity? What about success as how much of that weird, ineffable experience of simply existing we can write into in our stories?

Of course we want to share our stories, but there are so many ways to do that. Getting an agent and publishing are not our only measures of success.

Writing fiction doesn’t exist just so you can get a book deal. There is intrinsic value in creating stuff in and of itself.

A small rant if we may be allowed: we do not need to monetise our art at every possible opportunity.
