I’d love the info

106 nights on the dock so far this year… that’s just over 1/3 of them. 48 of them have been at my study site. It’s been really nice getting to know a new dock.

Wow wow wow! Well done, pilots!

Happy #CtenophoreDay! 🦑🐙🧪

I’m an equal-opportunity cteno celebratory so I observe both October 4th and April 10th when it comes to appreciating our shared cousins that have been out doing their own thing for hundreds of millions of years.

Happy #CtenophoreDay!

Ctenophores are back. Freshly sampled Mnemiopsis leidyi from Sotra, Norway. These beautiful comb jellies continue to surprise us and are helping reveal new insights into the early evolution of nervous systems. 🌊✨

@nautiluslive.org just saw this amazing Ctenophore! Sorta looks like it has the Aulacoctena pattern. I haven't seen one of these this color. 5480m @noncompliantcyborg.bsky.social Dive 3 of NA182 (dive 1032)

Having a rough night and just went to survey even though it’s a little drizzly and realized my light is damaged in a potentially critical spot and not only is it an expense, they don’t offer this one anymore unless I beg for a custom which will probably cost more than they used to + take more time.

I massively fumbled videoing this one. I have an old video of another slug in the same genus at least from a few years ago that I will try and dig up.

This is a fantastic image for #InverteFest because it shows how tragically underrepresented invertebrates are, yet how massively they outnumber vertebrates, which get far more attention. We joke about vertebrate bias, but it's real!

During a gelatinous plankton survey at the end of August I came across this gorgeous Cumanotus fernaldi nudibranch swimming at the surface. It was like it was doing the breaststroke with its cerata. 🐙🦑🌿

Pink text reads A surprisingly good swimmer above an image of a gorgeous White Sea slug with a creamy tear drop shaped body and thin elegantly long cerata with pink and white tips

Hey, Bluesky! I just realized there is no Docktober presence over here and I need the 🌿🐙🦑 communities to know that we are bio-blitzing docks all of October to document urban marine biodiversity.

Luan Roberts has a website and iNaturalist project about it:

@noncompliantcyborg.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 6:39 PM

Luan who has it set up has it focused on events but since she isn’t on here I think I’ll add a feed to share info and I think relevant critter art would be lovely :)
