I would be EXTREMELY annoyed to discover my PR is "AI"-generated, and as someone bombarded with dozens of "AI"-generated emails daily, I assure you the stink of "AI" is immediately noticable and immediately dismissible. Publishers are not doing their new books any favors in using it.

Well-sourced, eye-opening (but in hindsight, unsurprising) piece from Adam. The main use of AI by publishers appears to be publicity/marketing. I would like to explain why this is a bad use from the perspective of someone who gets pitched dozens of books a week for coverage.

Maybe I’m dense but this makes no sense to me. I’ve had art made based on my writing many times and it’s never required artists to hand over copyright or waive moral rights. The art currently on the cover of my collection belongs to the artist despite being based on my work. As it should be.

I said it two days ago, but I'll say it again: AI is truly the apex of prioritizing outcome over process. Reading to a child is as much about physical touch, emotional connection, social cuing, visual development and reciprocal engagement as the story itself, but they're too up their ass to see it.

The American white collar workforce started working from home three days a week for like six months a year into COVID and executives so thoroughly lost their minds over this that they installed Trump II. If anything, AI will create the 7-day workweek.
