What a great dedication, @mbaldwin.bsky.social ! "To all the referees who have been Reviewer 1.
You may not be the subject of memes, but your positive feedback
is appreciated."
Already in chapter 1. A must read on the social history of #peerreview, #reviewers and #referees
Thank you so much Sjang! I liked it a lot too!
Oh thank goodness!
Take Two!! I believe the previous download link issues have been resolved. You *should* be able to visit this page and download the entire book with no login required. Thank you everyone so much for the interest and support!
I believe this is now resolved! When you visit this page, you should see a "Book PDF" download option that requires no login, hopefully: direct.mit.edu/books/oa-mon...
I think they've now fixed that too! Anyone should be able to download it with or without an account now. I hope.

For those interested in the scientific publishing process this looks fabulous. Melinda is a great writer. And it's free to download (I've done so)! And you can find out why Einstein never published in Phys Rev...
Looking forward to digging into @mbaldwin.bsky.social's new book, How Peer Review Became a Mark of Scientific Legitimacy!
And it's Open Access thanks to Sloan support!
It's not working the way it should right now unfortunately! Other MIT Press Open Access books can be downloaded with no login. I've got some inquiries out to folks at MIT Press to see if we can figure out what's going on and get it fixed. Fingers crossed that this gets solved soon.

Being called a "great writer" by a truly fantastic writer has made my week! Thank you so much for the kind words.
Hopefully the login requirement will be fixed soon! Other MIT Press OA books just download with no login, including ones released last week -- I think there's just something odd with my page at the moment.
I am on it and so is my editor! Hopefully it will be resolved soon. 🤞
That is so kind of you Eleanor, thank you so much!
It shouldn't need a login though! Other MIT Press OA books don't require logins to download. And my editor noticed it's missing the little green OA "unlocked" symbol. Hopefully it gets sorted, sigh.
cc @mitpress.bsky.social -- open access download options for my new book seem to be broken (it's requiring payment or a login), any help would be appreciated!
Oh my gosh I had no idea!!! Thank you Michael! (The conclusion is brand-new from what you read -- Certain Developments necessitated a complete rewriting. Also, apparently all the download links are currently not working, so stay tuned. 🫠)
... and apparently NONE of the download links are working! Oh dear. Hopefully this is resolved soon.
