Just as an update for playtest material inquiries- we have had so many and we need to look at everything at once. If you haven't heard back please bear with us. Still really keen for reviews, literary essays and experimental pieces!

"Is Playtest Material also an attempt to legitimize role-playing game-related things as art? Maybe. RPG people at the moment do struggle to access funding sources and spaces that are open to other writers and performers, [and] one hopes that we can begin to open some of those doors."

my experimental piece within the issue's pages references card-altering games & proxying, fluxus, the abovementioned jerry's map, & @morphicrooms.bsky.social project 'additions'. also contains some collaged provocations & some things that could possibly be described as RPGs.

a collaged image captioned 'Journey kit, after George Brecht'. it contains words, letters and shapes pasted over a triangle grid. the words are: desires; plans; copy; paths; skate; bones; paper; press; garden. the letters are: L; G; E. the shapes are: a large polyhedron; a hand in the motion of slicing something.a collage featuring a diagram of a printer, some scissors and a square grid on a pink background. text reads: collage & games / inspire scenarios / enhance a dungeon / top tip: repurpose anything that is not a role-playing game to provide potential. the scissors are in the act of snipping in half the word 'character'.a collage featuring a flower-shaped hex grid and a hand tossing a pair of six sided dice. text reads: method 2 / flowering / cut out images/ shuffle them / this is a place of surprise

I am really grateful to @davidblandyrpgs.bsky.social for agreeing to be my guest editor, and to Wythe @stillfleet.bsky.social for taking on Issue Two. I'm still looking for guest editors for future issues and it really is a journey!

rare vulnerable moment: the release of this magazine is a huge deal for me and the culmination of hundreds of hours of quiet and often pretty gruelling effort. Having moved to another country weeks ago I have nobody to celebrate it with but I am exceptionally proud of it as a curated piece of work.

I am returning to roleplay in the Late Bronze Age Collapse with a new TTRPG, designed for both solo journaling and GMless group play:

None Could Stand Before Them

A Roleplaying Game about the Sea Peoples of the Late Bronze Age Collapse

This is unnuanced

@laurieoc.bsky.socialSep 28, 2026, 8:49 PM

saying that a game is "good" or "bad" only works as a method of determining value if we assume that most games are the same tropey slop that you can just put on a scale of quality, and at a certain point you're just judging the art

@laurieoc.bsky.socialSep 28, 2026, 8:44 PM

maybe it is a mixed game, I don't know, but if something looks different to what you're used to, why not try to think if there's a reason for it rather than just saying "wrong" lol

@laurieoc.bsky.socialSep 28, 2026, 8:40 PM

Still remember when the one public review for full send said "I just don't know why they did the info design this way, it feels disrespectful to the theme" when it LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE A GUIDEBOOK
