In 2023, NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission returned samples from the asteroid Bennu, offering a unique window into the chemistry of the early Solar System. We used the nitrogen and intramolecular carbon isotope signature of the amino acid β-alanine to investigate how and where it formed in the Solar System.
