Something about how adult learners learn best when they’re given the metacognitive background of why they’re learning something the way they are and how it applies to them.

There’s research to back that up, especially with adult learners. I wish I remembered precisely where I read it, but it was in one of my grad school readings (master’s in education) a couple years ago.
