Can't possibly provide a vehicle for anyone even slightly left of centre. A message like that would upset the whole apple cart of the right wing owned media, the oligarchs, the bankers and the lobbyists.

Important analysis by Jonathan Cook:

There has been a virulent backlash in the British media against the Green Party since its conference voted to brand Zionism as a racist ideology. Nobody has seen fit to ask any Palestinians what they think about Zionism and what it has meant for them.

What does it say about the new PM that climate barely merited a mention in an hour-long speech on the UK's future?

And what does it say about the ‘mainstream’ media that he was not lambasted for ignoring the severity of the threat hanging over all of us?

Thanks Jack. It's explained in the alert. The Gulf Stream is the most well-known component of the AMOC. But it's only one part of it. The AMOC is the complete 'conveyor belt' for the whole Atlantic, including the crucial sinking of dense water at high northern latitudes.

Our latest media alert is out now:

'Has Andy Burnham Ever Heard Of The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation?'

If we continue on a high-emission path there is a 70 per cent risk of the AMOC shutting down. The consequences would be catastrophic.

In June, we had the pleasure of chatting with Peter Oborne on Zoom about an article he was planning to write to mark our 25th anniversary.

Media Lens is quite extraordinary, and I wish we had an equivalent here in Aotearoa, to document, analyse and critique the media here.

BBC News is one of the world’s ‘most trusted’ news organisations, boasting ‘impartial’ reporting supposedly free of state interference.

It is therefore a complete mystery why BBC News is shielding the British public from crucial facts and awkward questions:
