Brent I’m so sorry this happened to you both. What a cruel disease that made her life necessarily small; what a beautiful big love you two shared. You are both so incredibly strong. Sending love.

The good news: we got our Laz Montes - Jose Altuve pic The bad news: both Laz and the photographer (Laz’s dad) are too nice to really emphasize the height difference

There’s so much stuff he does behind the scenes no one sees. Maybe the most misunderstood player in baseball.

Ah. Yes. The optics of it both metaphorically and literally were not great. It was hard to see!

The reality is he was asked not to return but it’s being framed as a mutual decision to preserve the relationship on both sides and out of respect both to Dan’s legacy and as a person.

It is! It’s also common journalistic respect that you don’t bogart the time allotted for questions especially when you are shouting over the people who show up every day because youve climbed on top of a table

As for doing the presser in the press box, I have no idea but maybe it was to weed out exactly the kind of thing that happened, so chalk that up to one more failure on the year.

it was unfortunate but there’s really no other time it could have happened. You’re not going to ask him to come back to give his statement to the press. This wasn’t televised but at the end he thanked the media group for all our work. Class act to the end.

For the reporters who came in hoping for a “54%” style quote to stoke the flames of discontent over the off-season they left empty-handed

To which I would note the same: the Athletic cut their Mariners coverage three years ago (miss you Uncle Corey)

Someday we will do an SBN cross site hangout and I’ll give you alllll the dirt
