This week Friends of the Earth was part of a coalition of campaigners demanding that the UK government rejects the Rosebank and Jackdaw fields and says no to all new oil and gas. Maxxing out the North Sea won't benefit people, the planet or the economy. 🧵👇 Photo credit: Fossil Free London
Friends of the Earth’s chief executive, Asad Rehman, will be speaking at both summits and we’ll also be running a workshop looking at the climate denialism of the far right. We would love to see you there!
In March, half a million of us marched for unity.
That march was a powerful, historic moment, but our next steps as members of the Together Alliance are vital.

Demand all forms of fracking to be banned permanently in England, as Labour promised in its manifesto: foe.uk/tjxvy
The government is about to introduce one of the biggest energy laws in a generation. As argued in this brilliant blog by CPRE, it's essential that the law permanently bans fracking for good. And it must close the loophole that currently allows lower volume fracking. www.cpre.org.uk/explainer/th...
This weekend was a reminder of the extraordinary advances that can happen when ordinary people stand together. The far-right will not succeed in spreading fear. For we are the many, they are the few.
Like today, they knew that the politics of hate and division offers no solutions. Alongside hundreds of organisations and groups across the country, we will continue to stand in solidarity with Muslim, Jewish and other communities facing far right attacks.
Friends of the Earth was proud to be part of the Cable Street 90th anniversary mobilisation this past weekend. All over the country in 1936, Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists were challenged and defeated by workers and communities targeted by fascist racism, chanting "They Shall Not Pass!".
🔥HOT FROM THE PRESS: The Agribusiness Atlas 2026 is out! The world faces its 4th global food price crisis in 20 years, while a handful of corporations control what we grow and what we eat, squeezing farmers and destroying the planet along the way. A few examples from the Atlas 🧵
Demand big polluters pay for climate action here: foe.uk/zqdmh
From street-by-street insulation for homes, to fair rents, protecting nature and making polluters pay for the climate damage they've caused, it's time to prioritise people and nature above profit. And empower local communities to help bring about the change they wish to see.
Last night during Labour Party conference, our chief executive Asad Rehman spoke about the importance of pushing for real change for people and planet. 🌍👇

We’re in Liverpool for #labourpartyconference. Andy Burnham says he’s empowering people to tackle the climate crisis. Welcome words - but we want to hear how Labour will get the UK off costly oil and gas, stop billionaires profiting while people and planet pay, and secure a fairer future for all.
“Putting the start date back four years makes the already dubious economic case for expansion even more questionable. That’s before even considering the fact that anything we might gain from expansion is vastly outweighed by the huge social and environmental cost”-T. Bosworth, FoE. shorturl.at/jsUS6
Demand the government protects us from the impacts of extreme weather here: foe.uk/n2bqd
After a summer of wildfires and drought, we now face an El Niño that is already set to be the most intense in living memory. It’s crucial that the government acts to prepare us for the impacts of climate change, and curb the carbon emissions driving this crisis.

Friends of the Earth are at the Liberal Democrats party conference.👋 We joined a fringe event panel focusing on communicating about the climate and nature crises. We spoke to people about what's impacting their lives locally and connecting climate action to everyday concerns and practical benefits.
