Nic Cage:

He continued: “How do you survive AI? Amazon is a very AI friendly company to the tune of 50 billion dollars invested to OpenAI. I am not an AI friendly actor. I didn’t sign the waiver to let them use AI on Spider-Noir. It’s kind of like I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again. But that’s OK. So I got to get with these young directors who are Gen Z and they’re going at it their own way, whether it’s through the YouTube culture or whatever it is. They’re doing it from scratch and by hand. I want to get with that.”

I wonder what would have happened if folks had taken seriously the rise in political violence and threats against women, trans, Black, and antifascist organizers and figures back when we were all getting swatted and sent photoshops of ourselves beheaded

by crow the third
who watched the horse
that lay quite still."

Getting politicians to at least stop sending people to X right now is crucial. Because not only are they sending people into the hot box of the biggest GOP Super PAC, but they're also feeding Elon crucial data that can be used to target voters better.

After years of championing "free speech," Texas lawmakers have enabled a dramatic rise of censorship in Texas universities, banning concepts, canceling courses and closing departments seen as "woke," and even using AI bots as censors. All in the name of freedom. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...

In other professors’ syllabi, the bot flagged the Pulitzer Prize–winning play Angels in America by Tony Kushner, essays by the Mexican American MacArthur genius grant recipient Sandra Cisneros, and materials related to a class about the Holocaust (that professor was told to drop material regarding Nazi persecution of LGBTQ people).

Putting aside the ideological slant of the new rules, the bot, like many large language models, seems to “hallucinate,” or make mistakes. The AAUP lawsuit lists texts banned for their “sex-based ecofeminist framework” and “gendered ecofeminist frameworks.” These phrases might sound persuasively like academese, but the academics behind the lawsuit had never heard of them; these concepts “do not exist,” the complaint says. Matthew Pehl, a history professor at Tech, told me that he knew several people who’d received reports from the system that were “plainly written by an AI that had hallucinated content or confused content from one class to another.”

This particular slur/insult/trope makes me nuts. In 2012 Warren was running against incumbent GOP Senator Scott Brown, who has won a special election for Ted Kennedy’s seat in 2010 in the Obamacare backlash (also bad Dem candidate and being a former nude model.)

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

if your agents are going to commit crimes, you are legally responsible if you cannot figure out how to prevent your agents from doing crimes, you’re going to have to choose between releasing them and protecting yourself from criminal liability imo this would do more for “ai safety” than a sex cult

Small, defenseless robots rolling around town will never be successful in NYC, not unless each one has a cop attached. People will destroy them: for the lulz; for Luddite reasons; out of sheer boredom; to satisfy curiosity about how they work; to strip them for parts. Hire humans. Pay fair wages.

Why does every microwave have a “popcorn” button but every popcorn bag says “DONT USE THE POPCORN BUTTON?” We went deeper than I thought possible getting the DEFINITIVE answer. Talked to the popcorn industry, the microwave industry. Even the inventor of popcorn sensing microwave technology.

The left isn’t weak because of infighting. The left is weak because every facet of our society and economy is geared to the benefit of fascism and white supremacy and it is the challenge of multiple lifetimes to dismantle all of that.
