Our Second Contact episode on Similitude is one you should absolutely not miss. Come for the discussion on the ethics of growing clones for parts, but stay to learn weird facts about slug sex and pooping in space, courtesy of our guest @beebrookshire.bsky.social

Oh, and don't forget our Mammary Alpha segment where we explore whether it's true that there aren't bathroom facilities on the NX-01 shuttlepods, and what Shuttlepod One must have smelled like when Trip and Malcolm were stuck on it together for three days.

This week our crew is revisiting the clone-based ethical conundrum in the Star Trek ENT episode Similitude. Plus, science writer @beebrookshire.bsky.social joins us to chat about the fundamental dangers of cloning, growing into adulthood in two weeks, and why southern accents probably aren't genetic

In our new episode out today, Maria tells us and guest, science writer @beebrookshire.bsky.social, about the Star Trek ENT episode Similitude where Phlox grows a clone of Trip purely to harvest his brain matter. Ethical dilemmas abound!

Of course I go on this podcast and I end up with the most ethically fraught (aka LORD NO) episode of Enterprise 😂 This was hilarious and so much fun and I can't wait to listen. And no, I have never watched Enterprise. Until now.

Just wait until you hear about the time he committed torture on a prisoner, or the time he caused the death of a nonbinary person because he refused (for no clear reason) their asylum request to escape from slavery.

@enterprisesplain.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 6:40 PM

Let’s just say there is a reason we always refer to Captain Archer as a war criminal.

@enterprisesplain.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 6:39 PM

lol the fact that you think this is the most ethically fraught episode just proves that you haven’t seen Enterprise!

If you finish our episode and are looking for more @beebrookshire.bsky.social content, might we recommend this science article she wrote about farts?
