Great to hear! Thank you.
Feedback with questions, suggestions, and detection of possible errors are all most welcome. (end).
Thanks also to all the member organizations of passda.pt/en/ in Portugal, for keeping this survey research infrastructure alive in spite of many difficulties. And to the great people at @interactivethings.bsky.social, for their remarkable work on this platform: www.atlasofsocialattitudes.eu (13)
We are @pcmagalhaes.bsky.social and Alice Ramos. We thank FCT, for funding the project. To the directors of @ics-ulisboa.bsky.social, @marinacostalobo.bsky.social and Sofia Aboim. To @ess-survey.bsky.social and @evs-values.bsky.social, for producing these data and making it openly available. (12)
You can learn about all about data sources, methodological choices and caveats here: www.atlasofsocialattitudes.eu/methodology (11)
We’ll be updating the Atlas as data from new ESS rounds and EVS waves are made public. And we are thinking about adding indicators from other open data cross-national projects, such as @cses.bsky.social (10)
You can also read Data Stories, highlighting important changes in Europeans’ attitudes, persistent differences between countries, and social divides that cut across national boundaries. Each story draws on the data you can explore in the Atlas. www.atlasofsocialattitudes.eu/stories/gend... (9)
Explore detailed figures, download charts for your presentations or publications, and export the underlying aggregate data as CSV files for further analysis. (8)
Select countries and follow their trajectories over time. Then go a step further: explore how attitudes have evolved among different age, sex and education groups within each country. National trends can conceal very different trajectories. (7)
If you do dig deeper, maps let you compare countries at a glance. Switch between sex, age & education to see how attitudes differ not just across Europe, but also within each country. The same indicator, several different views of European societies. (6) www.atlasofsocialattitudes.eu/indicators/c...
Choose an indicator and you'll see a “beeswarm plot”. It’s a small design decision that does a lot of work: each dot is a country, giving you an immediate sense of how attitudes vary across Europe and inviting you to dig deeper. (5) www.atlasofsocialattitudes.eu/indicators/c...
Enter the Atlas: more than 100 indicators across eight topics, drawing on more than 30 years of survey data from nearly one million respondents in 28 European countries. Compare countries, track changes over time, and explore differences by age, sex & education. (4)
Thousands of academic publications have drawn on these surveys. But what if you're not a researcher and want to know what Europeans think? How can you compare countries and track changes over time without reading those papers or analysing raw data? (3)
For decades, major cross-national survey programmes like the European Social Survey (@ess-survey.bsky.social) and the European Values Study (@evs-values.bsky.social) have been documenting what Europeans think, and how these beliefs and attitudes have changed over time. (2)
