Our friends at @inkandswitch.com wrote a lovely recap of this year’s event: www.inkandswitch.com/newsletter/d...
Here it is—the final talk from our @localfirstconf.com Lab Day!
After 10 years of Ink & Switch, Peter van Hardenberg @pvh.ca takes the long view. Why do we do research? Who does it serve? And what now, as the world gets weirder?
The second Local-First DC meetup is in two weeks (Oct 7)! This time we'll have a few slots for demos. If you're interested in giving a demo, reach out to @shupp.dev or myself. luma.com/gkmwov4w
As a follow up to the @localfirstconf.com we are doing a unofficial local-first meetup in Cologne on the 15th of October. Maybe this can be a regular event where we can exchange knowledge? The two talks are to get the conversations started. If you are interested in joining, feel free to contact me.
Today we're officially sharing the "Introducing Patchwork-26" video from Lab Day at this year's @localfirstconf.com
We bring you the first look at Patchwork-26, the latest in our ongoing effort to realize Malleable Software, Universal Version Control, and Local-First Software.
The Local‑First Conf 2026 recap is live! Miss the vibe or curious about local‑first? Watch the 2 min video:

We're thrilled to announce our next speaker batch for Local-First Conf 2026.
"It's been a kind of a good deal to say like, look, I'll just let Google manage my identity and then I can click the login with Google button everywhere. But it's a little bit of a deal with the devil. " @adamwiggins.com
🎙️ Announcing two speakers for Local-First Conf 2026, Berlin:
Armin Ronacher @mitsuhiko.at — creator of Flask and co-founder of Earendil.
Colin Daymond Hanna @c01in.bsky.social — co-founder of Earendil and former Balderton partner.
They're speaking together. We can't wait!

Seph Gentle is a prolific software researcher behind projects including the eg-walker paper and ShareJS, one of the oldest local-first open source projects. He worked on Google Wave back in 2010, then built ShareDB — the first realtime collaborative database built on top of Operational Transform.
" Using these new technologies to make the world more local-first, especially maybe parts that have been resistant to that. Breaking down data silos is one of the biggest ones that's been such a long running topic at Ink & Switch with projects like Cambria." @adamwiggins.com
"The story of computing is one of taking these computing things that are originally are heavy and slow and require a room size computer and making them smaller and cheaper and faster. And that just opens up all kinds of new use cases." @adamwiggins.com
With two weeks left in the Local-First Conf CFP window, you might be wondering who judges the submissions.
Pleased to announce this year’s committee: @adamwiggins.com, @geoffreylitt.com, @schickling.dev, and @bumble.blue
This group has serious credentials. Details in the thread 👇
"Am I empowering my users to take their data and go to where they need to go when the time comes for that?" @adamwiggins.com
"I think local-first is still the guiding light for us. It's kinda like the gold standard for what software should feel like, what software should be architected around." @schickling.dev
