removing someone from the voter rolls doesn't prevent them from voting?

@jakelazaroff.comOct 9, 2026, 3:55 AM

so everyone who plays the new GTA is going to hell then?

@jakelazaroff.comOct 9, 2026, 2:43 AM

you're hanging too much onto my specific words. to be clear, i am making a reductio ad absurdum comparison between claude/agents/LLMs/whatever and GTA characters with regard to the code of conduct you're espousing. i think substituting one for the other would not materially change what you're saying

@jakelazaroff.comOct 9, 2026, 2:31 AM

i have no problem with that! but it's a totally different argument than the one dame is making

@jakelazaroff.comOct 9, 2026, 2:26 AM

like the idea that if you're cruel to an LLM you should face "consequences" is really no different than saying the same about a GTA character

@jakelazaroff.comOct 9, 2026, 2:24 AM

that's fine, anthropic has every right to do that. my beef is with people projecting some sort of moral judgment onto people who act in some particular way toward LLMs

@jakelazaroff.comOct 8, 2026, 11:59 PM

i'm the one who quoted you so dw i'm not mistaking this exchange for antagonism. but if you post on bluesky about a topic that you yourself believe is not suitable for microblogging, the simplest explanation for people's misapprehension is not that they have irreconcilable worldviews!

@jakelazaroff.comOct 8, 2026, 10:41 PM

no, i think i'm not following your train of thought because it's unclear and you've declined to clarify

@jakelazaroff.comOct 8, 2026, 10:25 PM

sure, i'm generalizing. but in the replies you're talking about cruelty to tennis rackets, so i think the difference in violence between like, GTA and super smash bros is irrelevant here

@jakelazaroff.comOct 8, 2026, 10:12 PM

there's really no difference between this and saying that playing violent video games is harmful to the characters

@jakelazaroff.comOct 8, 2026, 12:30 PM

absolutely wild to me that no one has mentioned @mary.my.id yet for atcute

@jakelazaroff.comOct 7, 2026, 3:27 AM

…what post on mac performance πŸ˜…

@jakelazaroff.comOct 6, 2026, 6:54 PM

this is the best i've come up with but i think it's pretty error-prone having the parent be responsible for applying the wrapper again on "re-entry"

@jakelazaroff.comOct 6, 2026, 6:54 PM

i think there's still no nice native way to handle this πŸ˜•

@jakelazaroff.comOct 5, 2026, 4:51 PM

sounds good to me!

@jakelazaroff.comOct 5, 2026, 4:48 PM

yeah ditto. i picked "all the time" but that def overstates it

@jakelazaroff.comOct 4, 2026, 12:08 AM

the word "we" is doing some heavy lifting there πŸ˜… "computer" used to be an occupation before digital computers became widespread, and it's extremely unclear to me that the same thing won't happen to software developers in the next decade or two

@jakelazaroff.comOct 3, 2026, 12:32 AM

i actually (and this is not a joke) have a longstanding policy that if a menu is numbered i always order #1

@jakelazaroff.comOct 1, 2026, 8:51 PM

six months ago i would have agreed but i think now you could probably just have claude grind through an entire migration in one shot
