He has artemisia growing in his garden so he started thinking about how he could make it himself 🤣

Last night I saw DIE SPITZ in a 1000 cap venue here in Fort Collins. One of the best, most energetic, fun bands I’ve seen in years. Can’t wait to see them in Manchester next April!

One brewery does not a community make

I met some folks for beers here in Fort Collins last night and they were so excited to chat British beer, from trad cask right the way through to breweries like Track, Deya and Beak. I think they’re right to be excited. We have it really good at the moment.

I reckon the Geico lizard could take both the Compare the Market meerkats in a straight fight.

The sheer dread inspired by experiencing a hangover at altitude is something I have not become the master of despite 16 years of practise.

A lovely wine story from North London—volunteers at the community vineyards of Forty Hall Farm are making London's first sparkling wine since the middle ages, in Enfield.

So the beer was fine, it’s Kirin, but I hope it’s more successful for new Belgium than when Stone did Sapporo. A lot of wastage was required to create the head. Merch was pretty cool though.

Last night as I was getting out an Uber the driver turned to me and said “God Save the King” and instinctively I turned around and replied “fuck the King” so there goes your 5* rating dad sorry about that.

That said, if you visit Manchester, hit me up, I am always up for having interesting conversations about beer with interesting people!

When I started my podcast I made a rule that I would only ever record interviews in person. This has definitely limited my opportunities over the years, but I think the most recent ep is a great example of how conversation flows better over a table with a beer.

Apparently they are now brewing Kirin under license at New Belgium, and they are pouring it Japanese style (with the big foamy head) at the taproom. As your diligent reporter, I will go and check it out.

Indeed, this is all really interesting, thanks for sharing!

In 16 years of visiting Colorado my memory is that most were just called “Oktoberfest”s and it meant brown, malty and sweet, and it feels like that term here can be replaced by either “Märzen” or “festbier” interchangeably. However there’s a few breweries here now that do German styles so well!
