I'm not a big fan of installations, but going to @tate.bsky.social, I was both interested & impressed by the one by Zineb Sedira! I've recently read 'A Bookshop in Algiers' for my French reading group & watched Part 1 of the de Gaulle film & now want to see/read more! www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tat...

We're just going through the final proofs for this - a must-have for anyone teaching the combined Lang-Lit A Level. The wealth of knowledge on display is astounding - well done @stockwell.bsky.social @jessnorledge.bsky.social @englangblog.bsky.social
That should say Stockwell, Clayton & Norledge - the three writers of the book, not just Stockwell!
Tenor, vehicle and ground have been appearing in lots of English curriculum plans, promoted by a few eduinfluencers. I've been v sceptical about their usefulness in teaching metaphor. In a forthcoming EMC resource, linguist Peter Stockwell explains the problem with them.
Ah thank you!
Wonderful poem, Josh!
I've just published my debut poetry collection for adults and I am giving it away for free online. Here's a poem from the book, below. I hawked it to some fancy magazines, but no luck. Very proud to self-publish it. Download the entire book here: archive.org/download/the... #BookSky #PoetryCommunity
Working on the @engmediacentre.bsky.social report on our survey of poetry at KS3, funded by Tower Poetry, I’ve been looking back at some of my articles and blogs on poetry. I’m especially proud of this one, for @magmapoetry.bsky.social magmapoetry.com/archive/magm...

Thank you!
I wrote this poem and entered it for the Poetry Society Stanza Competition on 'Wonder'. I heard it was longlisted but not chosen. Here it is, in case it might be recognisable to other parents & grandparents!
I did this lecture in 2019. Much of what I say here remains v relevant imo. It helps explain what's been going wrong in subject English & the impact of a supposed emphasis on knowledge that has overemphasised memorisation, info 'about' texts', direct instruction, vocab, a 'novice' view of students.
