Right outfit and I'm betting it was a great talk (what a time to be travelling and out of chicago!)
The conference organizers have responded to scale with a coercive matching process for reviewers. This will result in lower quality reviews from people who’ve been pressured to review outside their expertise and threatens unjust desk rejections for people who try to hold the line on quality.
I've added some notes on "the other social network", which I think I can summarize with "absolutely trust folks have the best intentions but some ideas seem excessive". One that I complained about was the idea that anyone knows better than myself (each reviewer) if a paper falls in my expertise!
Hours of reading perfectly summed up in #CHI'26 paper that clarifies the landscape of #HCI
Haptic fidelity in the real world taxonomy is framing the architecture of my project

Attention arXiv authors. Because of the exponential increase in submissions, arXiv is limiting the number of papers that a person can submit each month to two.
We’re hiring at UChicago Computer Science!
We’re looking for tenure-track Assistant Professors with particular interests in Robotics, Embodied Intelligence, AI, and Systems.
Come help shape our growing CS department in Chicago: apply.interfolio.com/193574

The hardware foundation for this build is heavily inspired by @pedrolopes.org and his lab at #UChicagoCS
His vision of Human-Computer Integration - not just interaction - in-reached my perspective on wearable haptics. Highly recommend this podcast:

Specifically, I’m adapting the back-of-hand electrotactile concept from their CHI'23 paper by Yudai Tanaka
Check out their demo here: youtu.be/zowpbnes9J4?... at @acm-sigchi.bsky.social
I'm proud to be part of the new group of investigators in the Neuroscience Institute at UChicago. I look forward to many great collaborations.

I joined the Neuroscience Institute at the U of Chicago, incredible group of people alongside new members: Julia Cox, John Downey, Charles Greenspon, Joshua Jacobs, Sumin Jang, Adam Martersteck, Samuel Muscinelli, Marcella Noorman
Lucas Pinto, Zinan Zhou!
Our work "Embodied AI" (embodied-ai.tech) was on display at the art festival Ars Electronica 2026 last days! Super exciting to see it as a video installation, including new videos and demos by Yun Ho and Romain Nith that were not on the original paper! (Big thanks to Cameron, Miles & Ken)
I meant EMG to EMS, got too excited over this one :)
Check out our work "myo action" which uses electromyograohy (EMS) and muscle stimulation (EMS) to speed up voluntary reaction time (I know, sounds impossible!): lab.plopes.org#myoaction (w/ newly minted Prof. Yudai Tanaka). Nice article about it written at HacksterIO: www.hackster.io/news/myo-act...
I'm pretty excited about it!
New CHI process! See below more info
