This morning the @emarineboard.bsky.social is at the #AtlanticSummit in Galway - with an opening talk by wildlife documentary maker Eion Warner! Showing us how basking sharks are coming back after the fisheries of the 1960 in Ireland. #MarineLife!
The discussion also highlighted the importance of giving Early-Career Ocean Professionals a meaningful role, not only by including their voices, but by creating a feedback loop that shows how their contributions are taken forward.

π All-Atlantic cooperation in the spotlight at the Atlantic Summit Galway 2026 π This dedicated session took stock of how far the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance has come since 2013, while mainly looking ahead to what comes next.
This afternoon at the #AtlanticSummitGalway2026 is moderared by Sigi Gruber previously at @scienceinnovation.ec.europa.eu tells us about the @allatlantico.bsky.social blue intergenerational programme foe a healthy Atlantic Ocean. @emarineboard.bsky.social

What began with 24 intensive hours of intergenerational collaboration in Salvador, Brazil, has travelled across the Atlantic, giving these ideas another opportunity to reach the wider ocean science and policy community.
Today, that next step becomes a reality, with #ECOPs from the six Hackathon teams bringing their work back to the stage, showcasing the solutions developed around coastal resilience, low-cost sensors, digital mapping, small-scale fisheries, Sargassum and Blue Schools.
π We said βsee you in Galwayβ... and here we are!
The All-Atlantic Intergenerational Hackathon ended with a look ahead: one Early-Career Ocean Professional #ECOP from each challenge team would take their solutions from Salvador, Brazil, to the Atlantic Summit in Galway.
Panel discussion include Eugene Farrell @universityofgalway.bsky.social, Salem Gharbia #ATU Iglika Yakova @ec.europa.eu MARE, Martin Zimmer #LebnizCentre and Martha Farrell #MahareesConservation Association.
