I love novellas, both as palate cleansers between bigger books and for how much they can pack into a smaller page count. If you’re looking for some shorter reads, check out these awesome SFF novellas that you can finish in a weekend.

yessssss, enjoy!!

today’s fun, if we get to it, is an experiment. i’ve been enjoying Critical Role Campaign 4 and studying it for craft lessons and I want to see if I can apply a particular learning…but I may not get to it yet. Better get out of here and get to work.

but so i can follow the energy of the story. Yesterday’s energy was a bit of banter, the feeling of a puzzle piece slotted just so. Couple days ago, the fun was making battle maps and trying to explain them to S:

still here. still trucking. starting the day at 92k. 3.5 chapters into this storyline. the beginning has the heaviest rewriting, so it’s still pretty slow going. the primary effort every day is hunting for the fun—not just so that i can get the words in without feeling like i’m slogging…

we fucking loved it, even when there was basically nothing on it, and let me tell you something else: we loved it because of human connection, human diversity, human creativity. WE DON'T NEED A SINGLE THING ANY OF THESE COMEMIERDAS HAVE MADE AND TRIED TO SELL US IN ORDER TO HAVE A GREAT INTERNET.

stay humble, bro

also cool if you want to know more about the system—

check it outttttttt!!! Our Blades in the Dark playthrough is live! my smooth, sexy horselord scion rides again*! *for the first time, actually

also i am starting a new notebook 😌

anyway, i am here in part for a little accountability. the only way through is through.

the abrupt stop and start, the change of direction, loss of inertia, of momentum, and having to begin at a plodding pace again. not the rip-roaring fervor of a brand new project, no matter how excited i am to start. more like terrified laying of bricks of the beginning of qutb minar.

i am trying to crawl back into this revision draft to do the drafting part today. spent the last few days getting a bit more of an outline sketched out, but after a certain point, i just have to dive in. this part—any transition from one stage or section to another—is always the hardest for me.
