How to Backtest a Polymarket Trading Bot
Most “EV” trading bots stop at: fair probability > market price That's not enough. The real question is whether the edge survives execution, liquidity, fees, slippage, and model uncertainty.
**Polymarket prices are probabilities—but a probability isn't automatically fair value.** A trading bot needs to answer a harder question: I broke down the pipeline from probability model → orderbook → fees → slippage → risk → execution. `Polymarket fair value`
Monte Carlo changes the question.
A backtest asks:
**“What happened?”**
A simulation asks:
**“How badly can this strategy break when the path changes?”**

A Polymarket price is not automatically a probability edge.
A real probability arbitrage bot has to survive the entire chain:
model probability → executable price → fees → slippage → latency → risk.
Most Polymarket “arbitrage” bots look for price gaps.
Statistical arbitrage is different.
I broke down the architecture, z-score signals, failure modes and Rust implementation ideas.
A Polymarket pair trading bot isn't simply “buy the cheap market.”
The real problem is finding relationships that actually persist — then surviving fees, slippage, partial fills, and two-leg execution.
Complete Polymarket Bot Architecture: Market Data, Strategy, Risk & Execution
Polymarket bots rarely fail because the signal is too simple.
They fail because the execution system lies to itself.
Stale books.
Wrong inventory.
Ignored fees.
Bad order-state handling.
Settlement assumptions.
No kill switch.
Deploying a Polymarket bot is more than uploading a binary to a VPS.
Process supervision, WebSocket recovery, credential isolation, logging, restart-safe state, and failure testing all matter once the bot runs unattended.

**Polymarket bot latency isn't just about faster code.**
The real bottlenecks can hide in:
→ market-data polling
→ stale order books
→ network RTT
→ signing
→ CLOB submission
→ tail latency
**Primary keyword:** Polymarket bot latency
