One of the book's major strengths is its illustrations. High-quality drawings and photographs are used throughout and often help clarify topics such as anatomy, species diversity, and behaviour. The visual presentation makes the book engaging and enjoyable to browse.

The Little Book of Whales is an attractive, accessible overview of whale biology, diversity, and cultural significance, aimed primarily at natural history enthusiasts. It works best as a 'coffee table science' book, offering a broad introduction supported by strong visuals.

I think this book should be an early purchase for any undergraduate biologist, to act as a valuable 'sidekick' on their scientific journey.

This book guides the reader down the windy road that is data handling and statistics. Millar helps the reader to follow along, noting where they might get confused. Graphs and figures are used throughout to explain confusing concepts and provide examples of data visualisation.
