@conrad-esq.bsky.social, @coldcrashpics.bsky.social and I checked out the first two episodes of CRYSTAL LAKE (debuting next week on Peacock) and it's a mixed bag (think BATES MOTEL messy).
Cardellini is great, though!

I write screenplays and make YouTube videos about movies—usually from a leftist perspective. Yes, even the dinosaur movies. He/him.
They know they'll never have to raise the minimum wage again so long as they can keep their constituents' focus on transphobic bullshit.
YouTube version!

Anyone wanna start a Twin Cities film collective with me?
There's a very fair appraisal of its unique strengths and weaknesses on this week's episode of @movieoubliette.bsky.social. I'm thinking I'm probably gonna pick up the book that it's based on now that I've heard @conrad-esq.bsky.social speak so highly of it.
"Odd Thomas" has a lot of interesting ideas and a great cast but it's got a bizarre tone that didn't work for me and a pace that makes it feel more like a pilot for a TV show. It's a special nightmare of mine because none of these issues would've been apparent before the film was already finished.
I didn't think this show was for me but I *have* been plowing thru the Friday the 13th series ever since I got back from TIFF so take from that what you will.
More of my impressions from TIFF—this time for the first two episodes of the upcoming Crystal Lake prequel series.
The man who boasts that his editor son (who works for him) watched LAWRENCE OF ARABIA on a phone, and who designs his company product to be background noise, doesn’t understand what people like about movies.
I *mentioned* that interpretation in this video here but I didn't delve too deeply into it.
On the *same day* the Cornell Seven drugged and raped Jane Doe, Cornell banned four students (including the President of Cornell JVP) from campus for three years for nonviolent, pro-Palestine protests. The same Cornell officials let the rapists off with apology essays.
My first official TIFF content is live: @conrad-esq.bsky.social invited me onto a @movieoubliette.bsky.social "minisode" to discuss the upcoming Mike Flannigan adaptation of "Carrie."
the "iced coffee at a job interview" discussion is obviously stupid but also a great representation of the fact that every single HR person/recruiter has their own different made up rules for candidates and all of them think they are absolutely correct
Me: The ads I get on Instagram:
"Why were you looking up City of Angels?" mind ya business
Sure do love how all the media companies are now coding their websites with AI.
A key component of understanding how society functions is to realize that being a complete fucking moron is actually a *prerequisite* to being a billionaire.
All serious like I’m making an actual point: when are democrats gonna go back to lip service and pablum instead of making concrete promises
