A new #Podcast is here #Skystorians! Join Dr. Lukas Rieppel to discuss the role of paleontology in the late 19th century. How the discipline evolved and how the robber barons, working class, & native peoples of the Gilded Age left a mark on paletonology.

Discussed and to a degree debunked in this @askhistorians.bsky.social reply of two years ago:

In short, the reports of this sort of thing are by later sources describing legends about much earlier times that are frankly, probably made up.

We've been downgraded to a bastion of nervous tics and mild neuroses in a world gone utterly apeshit.

If your publisher unaccountably won't spring for a billboard in Times Square to advertise your new book, doing an AMA with us is clearly the next best thing.

In 2025, we* launched a new initiative to bring more (and more varied!) AMAs to our forum. Yesterday, we passed 20m cumulative views for this new AMA series. More people have now seen these AMAs (20,003,000) than live in the state of New York (20,002,470).

Hey #MedievalSky, does anyone have something to answer this question from the medieval period? Now I’m personally curious if anyone has ever seen a medieval author writing about having an “earworm” (to use a recent term) like this. (Link to full reddit post below.)

There was one hero with impeccable taste. Also the only person with a Zelda game. They should give that guy a raise.
