My end-of-life patient told me she wanted her favorite Domino's pizza--feta & spinach with Alfredo. So of course, I ordered it to the #ICU. And yes, when she insisted that I sit down & eat a slice with her, I did. Her nurse told me she has never seen anything like this 😊@3wishesprogram.bsky.social

The matriarch of the family was a well loved grandmother who died in the hospital. The family requested their 3 generations to be featured walking into the ocean for their @3wishesprogram.bsky.social fingerprint painting. Beautiful.

Just got home from putting together another beautiful & sad @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding. I told my friend, “I’m so tired”. Her reply, “It probably meant the world to them”.

Perspective is everything

The couple had been dating forever. The boyfriend knew his girlfriend's dad wanted to see them get married and didn't have much time left. He proposed while the dad was in the ICU. And just like that, we have a @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding to plan.

Just met a new attending colleague this week, who told me she experienced @3wishesprogram.bsky.social first hand for her family during her 1st year working for UCLA. She was so touched and told me she thinks it should be standard of care in every hospital. ❤️❤️❤️

Got back the professional photographs (donated service) from the @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding a couple of weeks ago, and they are beautiful. I have to say--I'm a pretty good wedding planner for being doctor 😅. So happy to have been able to give the family beautiful forever memories. ❤️

Coordinating a wedding so that a critically ill patient can see their kid get married is no easy task. I am so grateful for the nurses, RT's, & resident volunteers who came to help with the event. And thank goodness bedsheets look like linen. @3wishesprogram.bsky.social

On my 1st Saturday off in a while, I went to pick up donated flowers for tomorrow's @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding (florist not open sunday). It took me > an hour in stop & go traffic, but the beauty of these flowers and human kindness they represent...priceless.

I told a friend that for a @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding this weekend, I've managed to secure a volunteer photographer, free floral arrangments, & a donated two-tiered wedding cake. She tells me these @3wishesprogram.bsky.social stories gives her renewed faith in humanity. I cannot agree more.

Planning a small wedding in the ICU this weekend so a dying patient can see her son get married. Just emailed a local bakery who graciously agreed to donate a wedding cake! People are amazing!
