DOJ is now 0–26 in its lawsuits demanding states turn over sensitive voter data. Sports aren't really my strength 🤓, but even I know that when you're 0–26, maybe it’s time to fire the coach and rethink the game plan.

"Amanda Gonzalez is an election attorney and adjunct professor of election law at the University of Denver, but it’s her time as Jefferson County clerk and recorder that most informs her bid to be Colorado’s top election official." #copolitics

A court blocked this voter citizenship check in June. Today SCOTUS unblocked it. That's not a final decision on the legality of the system, but it lets states use it while it's in court. It also doesn't overrule the NVRA. Election officials can't purge lists of people ahead of this election.

@amandaforcolorado.bsky.socialSep 26, 2026, 1:19 AM

Officials who adopted this tool quickly learned it wasn't all it cracked up to be. TX, MO and several other states have had to walk back their plans for purges after realizing how many US citizens were being flagged.

Several lifetimes or maybe it just feels that long ago, Trump ordered DHS to build a voter citizenship verification system. Rather than asking themselves whether it was a good idea to stitch together federal datasets for a purpose they weren't designed for, they just went for it.

Nothing about today's decision changes how Colorado is administering this election: eligible Coloradans can register, vote, and have their ballots counted. Here's what this ruling is and what it means ⬇️

Today’s SCOTUS special: election lies and garbage data, with a side of voter disenfranchisement. Hold the final ruling. Is this bad? Yes. Should you panic? No.

Turns out “no one is above the law” also means you can’t just keep inventing increasingly creative reasons why the law shouldn’t apply to you.

The Colorado Supreme Court declined to hear Tina Peters’ appeal. Her convictions stand.

Have you met Colorado’s next Secretary of State @amandaforcolorado.bsky.social?

Enjoyed campaigning yesterday in Douglas County — where I grew up — with my friend Amanda, a true public servant who will protect the right to vote!

Be sure to vote for her & @coloradodems.org candidates this November!

Bad news, one of the election deniers is on Colorado’s ballot. Good news, someone with deep expertise who will fiercely defend your right to vote is also on the ballot. (Me.) 🙂

Had a great conversation with @coloradopublic.bsky.social about elections, transparency and why nobody should have to choose between a sick cat and casting their ballot. Check it out.

Happy National Voter Registration Day!

Good news for voters! The Trump admin asked the Supreme Court to lift the latest block on the USPS mail-ballot rule. SCOTUS said no. That doesn’t say whether the rule is legal. For Colorado voters, the advice is still wonderfully boring: keep your voting plans.

Sept. 14 Update - Democracy News - Supreme Court leaves USPS mail-ballot rule blocked. Plan to vote as usual. Cool kids vote early. Amanda Gonzalez for Secretary of State
@amandaforcolorado.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 6:03 PM

For now, two courts are saying this can’t move forward. That means even if the Supreme Court lifts the Massachusetts block it’s considering, the USPS rule still can’t take effect. This new D.C. injunction is a separate block.
