Now ➡️ The layout and purpose of Committee Corridor remains largely unchanged. After almost 130 years as a working part of the Palace of Westminster, Committees continue to meet here, and in the newer Portcullis House.

Then ➡️ In 1897, Committee Corridor provided access to 16 committee rooms where Members of both Houses met to consider policy issues, scrutinise government work and expenditure, and examine proposed legislation.

Six UK artists Lachlan Goudie, Dryden Goodwin, Caroline Walker, Tina Crawford, Julia Midgley and Eleanor Crook observed and recorded the ceremony and the activity surrounding it. The artworks now form part of the Parliamentary Art Collection.

There's one week left to see 'A Historic Farewell: Art as Witness to the Lying-in-State of Queen Elizabeth II'. During the Lying-in-State of the late Queen, 250,000 people queued to file past the coffin and pay their respects.
