DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MIMI GREEN? #4 out next week and Mimi is UNLEASHED!

though upon later discovering the religious implications, my only response was 'not the way I was reading them'

in every way that matters (he eventually gets it together) I am Edmund-coded

I love that Narnia is having a moment because so much of why I am the way I am (derogatory) is because I was a Narnia Kid (indoor recess/drew my own maps/close siblings) a big influence on what i like/ want to make is a sense of awe

the girl, the galaxy, the icon!

I’m soooo loving Jamal Campbell’s Zatanna book right now - I love his voice for Zatanna, and the central thesis behind her new role is so interesting (and not just a power up or “job”) plus any excuse to pick up some life changing @davidtalaski.bsky.social covers every month

and yes, that’s a reference to Christina’s World!!!

in the third issue, we finally see Ashley’s interiority, and it uses cues from Mimi’s, but I wanted to create a totally different atmosphere informed by her trauma and the ghosts of her past, which lead to a very different landing for her (and some fun synthesis of her fears)

it’s very fun - I don’t know that before this project I would have considered myself a particularly experimental panel-er as an artist? But if you’ve read the story you know how our freaky icky world was just begging to bleed out into the gutters and change the way you thought about the story

some of my fave pages from DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MIMI GREEN? #3, on sale now :)

really good comic week, super excited to check these gems out!! especially new indie debuts Prima Apparata and No Gods, No Masters!

ok i'm back with another one, what's cool is that i'm an arbiter of taste and have the right opinions on everything
