Position open at UC Berkeley. Some good people in this department. I hope UCB is learning to check the claims to Indigenous affiliation of applicants. And obviously, California tribal people (from actual tribes, not 501(c)3's) should be prioritized.

“Indigenous people are always the gauge of authenticity [such that] we end up being used as sort of a [settler] narrative device... to spin their dominant stories about the way that the world works, with very little attention to the way that we would story the world”

Many people, including actual NDNs, uplift self-indigenizers and their tall tales as demonstrated in this lengthy article. #Pretendianism

Strib finally publishes the story on MPD wildly overspending to do nothing during the ICE siege: www.startribune.com/minneapolis-... You can compare this version to the one that was pulled: www.msn.com/en-us/news/u... (ht @roblevine82.bsky.social)

startribune.comMinneapolis police rarely responded to ICE calls but still spent millions on overtimeThe MPD prioritized preventing large-scale civil unrest over responding to calls from residents concerned about unlawful force by ICE, and racked up huge OT costs doing it.

I'm watching now. Nick Estes just started. Great beginning to this event. A nice antidote to tiresome liberal American historians who see trump and this moment as some kind of aberration within an otherwise redeemable US American project.
