We acknowledge that we are settlers on unceded Anishinaabe land and that Christopher Columbus was a terrible human being who should not be celebrated. Crown Lands should be given back. We are grateful to be here, thankful for our readers, & hopeful that authoritarians will be defeated soon.

We love you too! And we love using our own dang brains for publishing great stories. Get thee behind me, A.I.

We’re turbo excited to announce our latest acquisition, KNIVES OF THE EMPRESS by @simonbest.bsky.social! Give him a follow, eh?

Simon’s story is an action-packed tale that explores what it is to be a person (if you’re not born that way) and asks: How many mechs does it take to topple an empire?

Acquisition Announcement:

An illustration done mostly with digital colored pencils. Ok, so we have a wooden coffin in the classic top-heavy hexagon shape. The coffin is propped up at an angle on nothing against a background of gray-blue paint splatters as a spooky sheet ghost rises out of it. Although it’s not a real sheet as it’s translucent and there’s nothing inside of it except a gape-mouthed green skull in the approximate head position within the sheet. The ghost is wearing a big. floppy, black witch’s hat and there’s a little brown bat hanging down from the wide brim. The ghost’s arms are extended holding a jack o’ lantern with a one-toothed frowny face carved into it. Popping out of the jack o’ lantern is a a black cat with green eyes balancing the cap of the pumpkin on his head. And on the stem of the pumpkin cap is a very serious-looking brown speckled owl. A series of spooky speech balloons is chained together around all this , each balloon containing one word and associating back tot he spooks and creatures named in the reverse order listed. The lettering in the balloons is red and drippy and reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

True not just in publishing/writing. Look at how this new Meta Muse basically jumps into the user's shit, mixes it around, gets it everywhere. Shares their address. Lies to their contacts. Sells their stuff at a low price. Do not let the vampire in. Hang garlic. Sharpen stakes.

Vivid numbers in this overview of Illinois’s new Net Zero carbon plan: “improvements in air quality alone would lead to between 392 & 631 fewer premature deaths per year. That translates to between $8.8 and $13.8 billion in avoided healthcare costs & increased worker productivity.” #ShareGoodNewsToo

If ye have read any of our books—A DUBIOUS CLAMOR or THE FINAL CHRONICLE OF YENEH or COYOTE RUN—please take a second and leave a review somewhere? On whatever platform you bought it! Those little stars—that acknowledgment that someone read it and liked it—help tremendously! Thank you so much!
