USA Today’s parent company filed a lawsuit against OpenAI in New York federal court Thursday for allegedly using reporting from its 19 publications, including the Louisville Courier Journal, without permission.
her track record is... not the best
Well, not really sure how to interpret this one…
Kentucky’s own Eric Deters! Welcome to your national spotlight! Anybody have a WSJ gift link?
If you love a very good chart, you'll love the latest piece from @joesonka.lpm.org:
Kentucky Democrats hit a rare milestone in September. Could that signal election success?
UPDATE: A state official now says the inmate appears to have died by suicide, though autopsy results are still pending.
Former GOP state Sen. Ralph Alvarado is facing off against former federal prosecutor Democrat Zach Dembo for the Lexington-area Congressional district, which Trump won by 15 points in 2024. #ky06
KPR's @sylviaruthg.lpm.org breaks down the competitive race:
In #KY05, Democrat Ned Pillersdorf's campaign has released an ad featuring former Gov. Paul Patton, who talks about incumbent Republican Rep. Hal Rogers' age. "I'm 89 years old — about the same as Rogers — and I'm too old for Congress."
VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE is approaching quickly!! Register by 4pm TODAY in Kentucky if you want to vote on Nov 3 Here's the link to register or update:
I should note this is **new** registrations. Obviously total GOP registrants still far larger than totals of Dem and independent voters in KY
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear's PAC just reported spending another $250K on ads in this R+15 congressional race. They've now spending $500K, with a Trump PAC spending > $1 million. #ky06
Compare to, say, a year ago. In Sept 2025, Dem registration fell by 3,354 voters. Meanwhile Republicans gained 4,636 and Other added 2,372 that month Can't say this is a trend or anything, but certainly something to keep an eye on leading up to the midterms and beyond
Interesting tidbit in Kentucky: last month's voter registration numbers are out and both Democrat and Other registrations were higher than Republicans' (Other has been outpacing both parties for some times, but Dems have been pretty steadily losing voters)
Another great piece from @joesonka.lpm.org as our nonpartisan judicial races grow increasingly partisan
"... Beshear’s super PAC [has stepped] up its support and more than a dozen Republican state lawmakers [contributed] to VanMeter, including several in leadership positions."
At a Frankfort listening session, Kentuckians from across the state described their frustrations with data center developments in their communities and begged lawmakers to act sooner rather than later. #kyga26 #kyga27
From KPR's @sylviaruthg.lpm.org
Also of course calls for a data center moratorium. Mostly hearing calls for a 3-year ban. A gentleman from Mason Co: "The first is a true impartial study to make sure these projects are feasible, do actually provide the jobs, the tax benefit, whatever else they say."
I'm also hearing a lot of people who say they want these decisions brought directly to voters rather than leaving it to local officials. A speaker from Breckinridge Co: "Our land is worth more than their data, and we, the people of this commonwealth, have the right to vote no on data centers."
I'm hearing a few through lines already here this morning. A lot of frustration over the lack of transparency, a feeling that county officials have been conspiring with data center developers behind their backs I wrote about some of those concerns, esp in Carroll Co
Here in Frankfort for the first legislator listening session on data centers. We have 9 lawmakers here today (all Dems except for Rep. Grossl). We’ve got a pretty full house here today People came from all over the state (ex. Madison, Pike, Carroll, Mercer, Jefferson, etc)
