Boondocks

they're counterfeits, you know
my kindness
and love
--Shinko Tokizane
ニセモノですよ私のやさしさも愛も 時実新子
Notes: ニセモノ -- "forgery, counterfeit, imitation, sham, fake"; ですよ adds a kind of emphasis, which I represented here with "you know"
Take 2:
they're fake!
my kindness
and my love
かなしみの恋にひたりてゐたるとき白ふぢの花咲き垂りにけり
while I was steeped
in the sorrow of love,
the white wisteria flowers

I'm happy to share that one of my poems is a part of the 2026 Haiku Society of America Member Anthology!

what I loved

--Shinko Tokizane
わたくしのために愛したことだけが翠 時実新子
Take 2:
all that I loved
for me
was green
[lit. "only what (I) loved for me (aka 'for my sake') (is/was) green"]

Must English language poets eschew strict syllabatics because an English syllable isn't equivalent to a Japanese 'on'-- "rain" would be transliterated into three 'on'. In fact many Japanese poets also eschew strict sound patterns.
