ICE moved my client in this case to Camp East Montana in El Paso yesterday afternoon, with no notice to me or his immigration attorney. On the Friday afternoon of a long weekend. He was off the detainee locator system until this morning. We had no idea whether he'd been illegal deported or not.

My client and I to MPR about this phenomenon. Two other attorneys are quoted talking about their client as well. We're not going to let ICE get away with making a mockery of court orders like this. www.mprnews.org/story/2026/1...

Imagine a world where sophomores in high school are steered away from extremism instead of being groomed by the feds until they’re old enough to be charged as an adult. Fuck the FBI.

Stop running like it’s 1994.

@ottergoose.netOct 10, 2026, 3:22 AM

It’s AI slop. Look at the time, temperature, and ICE agents able to run.

This is awful. Put in a full-body straitjacket and then pulled up the air stairs by his wrists and ankles. The WRAP is regularly used on ICE flights to Africa.

@ottergoose.netOct 9, 2026, 11:16 PM

They're a bunch of spineless cowards who leave the tough talking points to activists and unions.

@ottergoose.netOct 9, 2026, 10:52 PM

People in ICE detention have their shoelaces taken away to prevent suicide; they're often discarded, so even when they're released, they can't tie them.

@ottergoose.netOct 9, 2026, 10:51 PM

I believe that might be his shoe, but I'm not sure. You can see his feet, in socks, a few frames before the object falls.

We're well-equipped to document these flights in Minnesota, but our neighbors in other states could use a hand - if you're able to chip in a few bucks to help get them gear, it'd be appreciated: ottergoose.net/ice

Our team has observed 165 flights, with an estimated 5,449 people being loaded here at MSP, and we've never seen the WRAP used before. It is routinely set next to the stairs as a deterrent though.

@ottergoose.netOct 9, 2026, 10:34 PM

A shackled detainee was thrown to the ground, placed in a WRAP full-body restraint, and carried onto today's ICE Air flight at MSP.

This is the first time we've seen the device used in Minnesota.

"In addition, the Target Corporation must stop offering their Bronx properties as private staging sites for ICE, in compliance with requests from New York officials. Target opening up large active retail parking lots for paramilitary activity is unacceptable and places the entire community at risk.”

For the second time, a Journey Aviation ICE flight has stopped in Gitmo on its way to removal stops in Africa. On Sept. 24, a Journey plane deported Somali nationals held at Gitmo via Kenya.

Also, I want to highlight this part of the case for all the pilots and avgeeks out there. I’ve heard ICE is doing this with manifests from a number of sources, but this is, as far as I know, the first confirmation. Really shows the complicity of the pilot-in-command. This was an Omni flight.

In the latest court filing, ICE officials did not deny any of his claims, and appeared to confirm at least one of them, saying the charter flight's manifest—a printed receipt given to pilots listing all passengers and crew on a flight—
"served as the travel document."

Anyways, it’s interesting to see the time capsules getting filled and filed away; both of those pieces are honest looks at how shitty things got during Metro Surge - any effort to preserve that history should be encouraged. … and, as we know, ICE never left - twenty people were loaded yesterday.

@ottergoose.netOct 8, 2026, 3:23 AM

In contrast, the production that was at the Fringe Festival, “Who We Are: Stories from the Surge,” was so packed with information, from so many more angles, that it hit new raw places - I wept through maybe 60% of it - it was traumatizing in a way “They’re Here” wasn’t.

@ottergoose.netOct 8, 2026, 3:01 AM

I’ve only consumed a couple of pieces of artistic retrospectives on Metro Surge - in both cases becuase my flight tracking work was included. I had been dreading this, as I was scared it was going to rip open some scabs, but it hit me as a thoughtful reminder of the time, and not a bayonet to guts.

EXCLUSIVE: A third-country national finally freed from an Eswatini prison got stuck in the international terminal of the Johannesburg airport for days due to suspicion about his emergency travel document.

He’s now safe in Laos, his “home” country he’s never been to.
