@cathmckenna.bsky.socialAbsolutely chilling about how authoritarian states like Uganda’s brutal dictatorship use surveillance technology. And appalling that software from Canadian company Magnet Forensics was used to extract cloud data from a Ugandan lawyer & novelist who was repeatedly detained & tortured.
@cleanenergycanada.orgReposted by @cathmckenna.bsky.social🔌🏠💰 Today's announcement is a huge step forward to help as many as 820,000 Canadian households benefit from the efficiency and cost savings of an electric heat pump, says Clean Energy Canada's Rachel Doran. #cdnpoli #climateaction
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialDear LA friends: If you’re in town later today, come to a discussion at UCLA between me and Client Earth Americas CEO @Danielle Lackey about gender, leadership & climate action, moderated by UCLA’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Nurit Katz! I promise it will be honest, inspiring and funny! 💪
@ms-sally.bsky.socialReposted by @cathmckenna.bsky.social"And there's a misunderstanding, which is often propagated intentionally by fossil fuel companies, that it's expensive, it's hard, it's unreliable...To be honest, the most unreliable thing is if you're trying to pass fossil fuels through the Strait of Hormuz."
@cathmckenna.bsky.social"What is irrational is continuing down the road of fossil fuels. That's irrational on the costs, the risks, the impacts. It's an old technology."
My comments about the opportunity of solar for all, everywhere, by 2030! #SolarForAll. Thanks @billmckibben.bsky.social for leading the way!
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialCould we please stop framing climate action as a left/right issue. It’s just a big issue that all politicians need to grapple with. Both a massive cost/risk & huge economic opportunity with clean energy transition (with big risk of stranded fossil fuel assets).
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialOne major glitch in this piece: Carbon pricing is a conservative policy especially when revenue neutral as it uses the market to reward behaviour. It was George Schultz, a Republican, who championed it (supported by Brian Mulroney). I spent a lot of time discussing it with both.
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialGreat worldresources.bsky.social panel discussion focused on Climate Diplomacy in a Messy World. My main points: We need coalitions of the willing across the board, diplomacy requires leaders to *lead*; climate crisis is worse, solutions are better & hard things are so do the work! #ClimateWeekNYC
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialOh yes! @americaisallin.com! Great to catch up with awesome US climate leaders from Governors @gavinnewsom.bsky.social and @mattmeyerde.bsky.social, to

@cathmckenna.bsky.socialGreat discussion with my friend and long-time climate ally John Kerry about climate, oceans and the need to push for more ambitious action now! #ClimateWeekNYC
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialAnother New York City Climate Week is underway… and this year we’re talking about oceans!
@cathmckenna.bsky.socialGreat to moderate 2026 UN @globalcompact.bsky.social Private Sector Forum on accelerating a clean, just and secure energy future for all. Thanks to the Secretary General, leading companies & governments for setting out policy, infra, market, financing needed to get action at scale! #ClimateWeekNYC

@cathmckenna.bsky.socialHelp me find Alexandra who wrote me the loveliest note in 2017 when she was ten! That note really cheered me up on a particularly tough day. Clue: she was a member of the 12th Toronto Girl Guides and likes turtles!
