A Centcom conference to discuss ways to reduce civilian harm in their operations comes shortly after a member of the HASC intervened to stop an Army official from reassigning all remaining staff working on the problem. w/ @malachy.bsky.social & @trbrtc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/u...

I wish I could be a student and attend!
This is not my field of expertise, so I'm not claiming to share an expert opinion here. But, as a personal opinion, from what I've read and heard from some of the most prominent AI researchers, basically everyone seems to agree there is a significant risk misalignment in the coming decades.
Meanwhile on X, from Evan Hubinger, who leads the Alignment Science team at Anthropic.
OpenAI voluntarily let three researchers from A.I. safety nonprofits investigate how its rogue A.I. agents hacked Hugging Face, leading to the most comprehensive account yet of the alarming incident — but on OpenAI's terms. My latest for NYT:
Another agent message board. So far, there isn't evidence that production models with guardrails collude in this way, but both smarter closed models (which may be less compliant) & Mythos-class open models (that can be ablated) are coming.

Hi Elizabeth, this popped up on my timeline. We actually did a deeper dive into this strike here: www.nytimes.com/2026/09/02/v...
Yes, my colleague @aric.bsky.social, amongst other, has taken a close look at that. For instance, here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRno...
Would have loved to see a photo. I'll imagine it for now haha
An *actual* elevator shaft? Haha, that's crazy. Indoor treehouse makes it sounds cozy. But no windows, I assume?
(And oh yes, did we have a great time there.)
Ha, my bathroom while a was a student in Groningen (northern Netherlands) was outside, and I couldn't close the door when I would sit. I'd sometimes use it as a place to Skype with friends, lol.
