Standing at the edge of a quiet mountain lake in the North Cascades in late autumn, looking across the water toward a gap in the trees where distant peaks are just visible under heavy clouds. The meadow at your feet has gone to rust, tall dried stems crowding around mossy boulders. Lake Michigan has a way of making you forget you're looking at a lake. When the winds pick up and the waves start crashing over the St. Joseph lighthouses, the whole scene looks more like the North Atlantic in the middle of a storm.

The moisture was not kind yesterday, I can say that. I did have to combat lens fog off and on, and the mist was equally bad. But boy did the I get some great photos out of it so it was worth it. Finding time to edit them all is a whole different challenge 😆
