Do 1 and 2 together with reading to your littles and you will raise them to be readers, people who books and love books. We hope the work we're doing now means they won't have to fight for the right to read when they're adults, but they'll be ready if they do.

2. Take the kids in your life to the library. Most libraries with kids rooms will have toys to play with, story times, and other activities, along with the books. Libraries give kids a chance to learn about being with books as objects, while also reading them, playing, imagining, growing...

Kids learn what they are SUPPOSED to do as adults by watching what the adults in their ARE DOING. So if you want the kids in your life to be readers, make sure they see that YOU are a reader...
