Back in March I posted that SkyFeed isn't sustainable: hosting 75,000+ community feeds for millions of readers costs ~1000β¬/month, and donations cover ~200β¬. The gap has been coming out of my own pocket.
Today that changes: SkyFeed Pro is now live on skyfeed.eu π

β SkyFeed Classic v1-beta.1 is here!

Try it on skyfeed.app π¦
If you subscribe to SkyFeed Pro you help cover costs of ALL feeds hosted by SkyFeed, the only reason to subscribe as the owner of a feed is that you can view stats of your published feeds and (soon) a few more features like new posts appearing faster.
On Bluesky a feed is a custom timeline view anyone can publish: a query or "algorithm" over the network (using keywords, lists, likes or even just a static list of posts) that others can subscribe to in the app. This blog post explains it quite well: bsky.social/about/blog/7...
Not yet, but real-time feed updates are the main thing I am working on at the moment: bsky.app/profile/skyf...
sorry about the confusion, all feeds are staying free and will keep running:
Since a few people asked: your existing feeds are not affected by any of this. They keep running exactly as they are, for free, and you can continue building however many you want :) skyfeed.eu is only where your account, the sub and stats live. Feeds don't "move" anywhere, it just pays their bills

Classic will stay around is just the name of the current feed builder website. Free and Pro are the "tiers" you can have (with Pro being a subscription) and their features will apply to all feeds, both classic and new ones!
All feeds you published with SkyFeed will continue working just fine, you don't need to do anything!
When the new feed builder UI launches on skyfeed.eu, migrating feeds to it will be an active decision for each one and you can always just stay on the old builder.

The current feed builder is now called SkyFeed Classic and stays on skyfeed.app, the new builder will live on skyfeed.eu next to your subscription.

The new feed engine is also still in the works and taking longer than I'd like. Near real-time feed updates will be part of Pro, because they cost real server load. Longer history for more feed types like regex ones, new query types, new blocks and the new builder UI stay free.
The past weeks went into the foundation too: I just finished moving all infra to the EU and if you happen to use a EU-hosted AppView you can now view SkyFeed feeds with no traffic leaving the EU πͺπΊ Also, thanks for your patience during the flaky cutover phase.
To the people sponsoring me on GitHub: thank you, you helped keep SkyFeed alive so far. GitHub Sponsors is still the most direct way to support me, but it does not handle VAT, which is the main reason I couldn't offer actual features through it and why skyfeed.eu uses a different one
Some things that won't change either way: - no ads on SkyFeed, ever. They go against the ethos of algorithmic choice - nothing that's free today moves behind the paywall - the entire backend stays open source - GitHub Sponsors stay, see next post
SkyFeed Pro is 5β¬/month and gets you Feed Stats: hourly request counts for feeds you published. They count requests, never people. Today, a sub mainly helps pay SkyFeed's hosting bill, but since I'm the only person working on it, that buys me the time and stability I need to build new features.
Hi! SkyFeed is struggling and I need to find a solution. If you don't know SkyFeed, it's a service I built 2 years ago, enabling anyone to build and publish feeds using a visual block-based editor. SkyFeed is still hosting the most feeds on Bluesky, but that comes at a cost [1/X]
All SkyFeed feeds are now back online, thanks for your patience! The feed generator backend is now serving 120 feed requests/second :O New posts might still be a bit delayed, please reply to this post if your feed is having other issues.
Hey SkyFeed users, new posts won't appear in your feeds for the next 1 to 3 hours because I switched the indexer to the new federated bsky.network BGS, and it still needs to catch up on the last three days' worth of posts, likes and so on! Thanks for your patience.

You can use it to create lists based on RegEx matching display names, handles and the full profile description.
This feature is still highly experimental, so please be careful and report any issues and bugs you might encounter here in this thread!
