Hard to believe I forgot Sir Tony, perhaps the horror of what's happened to him caused my brain to erect psychic defences.

Which ex-politician has fallen furthest in their embrace of Big Tech? Nick Clegg or Tom Watson? Or is there another candidate for the prize?
Thanks for the reply, and thanks for your posts on this topic. They're very interesting.
I'm always interested in your comments that the EU has doubts about the UK (totally understandably), but wonder why there isn't any counteracting enthusiasm for what would presumably be a geopolitical win of regaining a lost member. Are officials in Brussels just not that bothered about that?
How does dirty money shape our world? This Thursday at De Balie, @oliverbullough.bsky.social and Thomas Bollen (@ftm.nl) expose the global system of money laundering. An evening about shell companies, tax havens, crypto, empty high-end apartments and more.

The City of London Corporation's Court of Common Council is the same, and for the same reason: when there's only one industry, you only really have one policy.
"I never thought they would risk the existence of MY humanity," sobs woman who invested in Posing Existential Risks to Humanity Inc.
"Well, it's like this, you see, you know how in the song 'In the Summertime', he refers to one's ability to 'make it, make it good, in a layby'"?
I'd love to hear a British official having to explain dogging to a US securocrat.

I wish more people would realise that not everyone who wishes to put big money into British politics is Russian. In fact, hardly any of them are.

Maybe they're hoping to get some of those sweet "Bannau Brycheiniog" column inches from the culture warriors?
Are you interested in hearing me talk about money laundering? Are you someone who'll be at home at 6pm on October 20th? This is your lucky day! Sign up for the excellent BEARR Trust's annual talk here
Well, I can certainly give some insights into how other people do it...
At 3.15pm on Sunday the 27th, I will be in Appledore.

Hope to see literally all of you there!
At six pm on Saturday the 26th, I will be in Budleigh Salterton.
If you're in Devon, this weekend I will be doing not one but two events to talk about money laundering! You can come to one or, better, both if you're nearby...
Tbh, it's more that she's discovered that, if she's at home on her own, she can lie on the sofa without being told off. This is, I suppose, an argument for the opportunity model of criminality.
She's not very bright.
She does stray into our bedroom and mess up the carpet (despite, as with the sofa, a stern prohibition that she always abides by if we're at home), but I'm hoping the bed would be too far even for such an inveterate criminal.
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but my dog (aged 11) has just discovered how nice it is to lie on the sofa.
