Would you trust this man with your pension?

A sad story, only saw him play once against Chelsea away in 93, another of those that could have been.

John Healey named the damage done by deindustrialisation and privatisation more clearly than most Labour politicians. Then his remedy stopped short of challenging where economic power now sits.

Connor Tomlinson wants women returned to the traditional family, then blames women for the men that family produces. His attack on Afghan women being offered refuge exposes a much wider contradiction in reactionary gender politics: authority flows to men, responsibility flows back to women.

Russia invades Ukraine. Europe rearms. Finland &Sweden join NATO. Britain arms Kyiv. Putin and Lavrov then point to every consequence of Russian aggression as proof that Moscow was right. A look at how Russia turns the reaction to its own choices into the justification for becoming more belligerent.

A Portuguese hacker broke open football’s accounts. Everton got docked points. Manchester City got years. New piece on what that tells us about who really owns the game, and what money can buy once regulation comes calling.

Restore Britain says it wants a smaller state. Its Coastal Command plan proposes 5,000 staff, an armed intervention force, persistent surveillance and powers drawn into a single national command. I went through the 74-page paper. Much of the capability it claims Britain lacks already exists.

No place for this s**t in modern Ireland

The Free Hit: Rupert Lowe says Restore stands for free speech, then reaches for terrorism laws when opponents turn up. A look at the Holborn campaign, the far-right activists around it, and what Restore gets from a seat Lowe admits it cannot win.

Restore Britain did not create Britain’s decline. It learned how to weaponise it. The real British disease is economic abandonment. Can Andy Burnham offer something capable of reversing it?

They are not ‘stormtroopers’. Robinson and ‘Tommo’ occupy the same space, the ideological battle is secondary to the rinsing and repeat of their supporters for cash to fund their lifestyles. I just don’t see the historic parallels with fascism in motion.

He is just a twat with a load of football hooligans. As far from fascism as you could get.

I called Daniel Thomas a domestic terrorist. I was wrong. If Palestine Action belongs under terrorism law, Patriot Platform becomes hard to exclude. My argument is that neither should be there. Prosecute crimes as crimes, and build the left strong enough to confront the politics ourselves.

Worth a read.

Perhaps the best piece I've read yet on this emergent politics ⬇️

Christian Craighead’s One Man In is being sold as the story of the lone SAS hero who ran towards the Nairobi attack. The book itself is stranger and more revealing.
