I loved these Viking scales at the Danish national museum
An honour, thank you again!
One of my favourite anywhere in the world!
...where one can see voids in the living rock from where bowls were chiselled out and even abandoned attempts with partially carved examples!
Great to see the progress at Vikingtidsmuseet, and lovely to see these steatite bowls, which remind me both of the collections at Shetland Museum and Archives and the remarkable Shetlandic steatite (soapstone) quarries at Catpund / Cunningsburgh [...]
No problem; glad I could help!
Perfect, thanks! I'll speak to the museum and we'll see if we can make an event like that work post publication!
...so, you may have a new theory (or several!) that you can see those news outlets being interested in via the Pr release and which could then lead to a headline like "Vikings in Britain and/or Ireland were the first to do X, Y, Z". They'd then contact you via the Uni/Publisher for a quotation, etc.
I reckon the Uni will want to do something! For any press release, you need the hook that you'll want the BBC, Guardian, etc., want use in their headlines, so now's the time to start thinking of any 'revelations' (!) that might fit: biggest/oldest/most surprising tends to be how editors think (1/2)
