I'm always depressed but I get these waves of extra depression that can be triggered by seemingly innocuous things. Time of year, unexpected/unwanted changes in routine, accidentally saying something wrong in a conversation... sometimes multiple triggers happen around the same time.

Having a depressive episode in the middle of a project sucks. Suddenly nothing you make is good enough. The idea you were working on no longer feels worth the work. The project isn't the same anymore even after the episode. It feels like it's been tainted by depression.
