Thanks so much for the amazing response to Cata's debut! For those who aren't aware - we've not done a great job introducing ourselves on Bluesky - SCOUTED is an indie and reader-funded magazine on the players, people and ideas changing football's future.
Is that bad? It looks bad
Unai Emery’s grandad played in goal for Real Union de Irun. His dad played in goal for Real Union. His son plays in goal for Real Union. He bought Real Union to save a historic club, four-times cup winners. A family responsibility, he calls it. Here’s the story: www.espn.com/soccer/story...
Half the time it’s an Eagles shirt but still
Damn, that’s bang on
Top 10: New Premier League signings that have started fast, for @espn.com
Yes ofc, not questioning you or @fplhedgehog.bsky.social. Still questioning City!
But nothing to address the artificially inflated figures at all? Which is most of the initial problem?
No expert here but this doesn’t look like an irrefutable body of evidence, in fact it doesn’t look like a very strong argument at all, and it outs City as state-run/owned - something the club has vehemently denied for a long time
So many layers to the City case. Every morning you wake up, something new. Yesterday, it was Etihad threatening to sue for reputational damage. This morning we find out Khaldoon Al Mubarak has diplomatic immunity. Finally, the much heard "what's taking so long? question is answered. Complex af.
There’s a whole body of it out back, it’s just too heavy to bring inside and show anyone. Sorry, you’ll just have to believe us
I think if I was being told, by just about everyone, that a series of amazing memories I have supporting my football club -- probably some of the best days of my life -- are now officially worth fuck all, null and void, I'd need a minute to come to terms with that. And that's alright!
No idea on %. I'm not able to speak for these fans over the years, or rationalise what they thought/didn't think. It's far too long a period to keep track of. But I'm watching reactions to this verdict and there's 2 categories: "omg, look at the scale of it" and "you'll never take us alive!"
They are - and they're not. The piece is extremely well balanced and well worth a read to get a sense of the turmoil they're feeling. Obvious those City fans who are lashing out, in denial, or celebrating the cheating rather than asking Qs of owners, do not attract their portion of sympathy
A hugely impressive piece of writing from @davidmooney.co.uk here to summarise the impossible position Man City fans have been placed in:
He exists!
Why are we so awful to each other sometimes?
I think we’d be mad to expect them to do anything other than refute all of this until the end of time
Yesterday was iconic on that place. I don’t go there often but I spent all day there yesterday. Too much good content to miss
