This shooting belongs to every Republican who voted to shred our Constitution in exchange for tax breaks. There's one right here in NYC in Nicole Malliotakis. As humans, we must stand up to violent abuse of power; as Democrats, we must organize to send a resounding message in November.

We must abolish ICE. We cannot have bands of secret police roaming through the streets terrorizing our communities. Enough is enough! Every elected official who has enabled these despicable acts should be run out of office and as Democrats, we must send a clear msg this November.

Yesterday's undemocratic action by the Brooklyn Democratic Party's former leadership was not a legal vote and has no bearing on the leadership of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. We look forward to a proper vote for Party Chair that honors the will of the voters soon.

We look forward to a court hearing tomorrow and a fair vote of the elected district leaders to choose Brooklyn's next Party Chair.

Yesterday, former Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, violating a court order, called a meeting to hold a vote for party chair. Now she claims Nikki Lucas was elected chair, with votes from only 13 of the 42 District Leaders. This is illegal and undemocratic.

Defiance of court orders by a major chapter of the pro-rule-of-law party: not a good look. Glad this is the last gasp of this leadership.

They really did it. They went and violated the courts' orders. 🤯 Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas, and the rest of the participants in last night's illegal meeting should be held in contempt of court. This was a flagrant 🖕 to the rule of law and must not stand.

We expect the former chair to soon claim that a new chair has been elected. This will be false, and this late-night zoom call masquerading as a BK Dems exec committee meeting, like every prior step of the former chair’s attempt to cling to power, was an affront to the democratic values of our party

Any subsequent "announcement" has no legal effect or legitimacy. We look forward to the scheduled hearing on Tuesday, so our party can move forward with a legitimate leadership election, in line with the wishes of Brooklyn voters, as soon as possible.

To recap, the meeting was: - held in direct violation of a court order - called by the former chair who has no authority to do so - conducted using illegal rules changes that have 2x been struck down in court - shielded from press and the public - at 10 pm on a Sunday night
