Kiddo and I were going to go to a Knocked Loose concert this weekend, but we found out the venue, Great Canadian Toronto, has locked out workers and are using scabs. Solidarity with all the workers on the line! www.unifor.org/news/all-new...

The right to strike is non-negotiable. We all want strong collective agreements, stable labour relations, and reliable supply chains, and workers are ready to build the infrastructure and industries Canada needs. But you can’t build stability by weakening workers’ bargaining power. buff.ly/dhfoNnh

My boss is doing two press conferences on Bill C-39 today - the first one with the NDP, Chief Moore Frappier, and Anna Johnstone - the second one with the CLC and Tom Doran from ILWU. The Liberals are fast-tracking this bill because there’s substantial opposition to what they’re proposing.

The decision means that Canadians will not recoup the $40 billion in public funds spent on the project during the 20 year lifespan of its oil shipping contracts, according to regulatory filings.

Poor Péquistes, now that they’re officially a minority, they’ll have to discriminate against themselves

What's a long time? That article is from December 2018 - which is not yesterday, but still.

By rights, each post in this thread should be nail in the coffin of Brad Bradford’s campaign. Great work, @nationalobserver.com.

Yeah, I was saying Geddy’s statement seemed really odd to me, and a friend told me it wasn’t that surprising given the Ayn Rand-ness of Rush. I had no idea!

@angella.bsky.socialSep 28, 2026, 11:47 PM

The article I linked to quotes Geddy on Rand and the Fountainhead specificall, in 2018. I‘m paraphrasing, but he says it was an artistic revelation and he doesn’t think it’s politica.

Today I learned that Geddy Lee specifically (and Rush’s music) were inspired by Ayn Rand and her book “The Fountainhead”. www.theguardian.com/music/2018/d...

2./C-233 was about a simple principle: Canada’s arms export rules should mean what they say. I thank the MPs who supported the bill—including Sean Casey—for standing up for stronger accountability and respect for Canada’s export-control regime. Parliament must be able to hold government to account.

The tech industry has learning that overhyping the threat of its products is great PR. It leads to tons of free press, and now it’s allowing them to shape the regulatory discussion of their products — while distracting from the real ways people are being harmed today

Tech industry deception about the supposed threat of their generative AI tools is nothing new. It’s in fact a well-worn playbook. OpenAI was using it all the way back in 2019 when it released GPT-2. Claiming its new AI model was so incredibly powerful it posed a threat to society was a fantastic marketing ploy, allowing it to capture global headlines and get a ton of free PR. Now they’ve moved on to using it to shape the conversation around their products, but the media seems determined not to learn anything from their consistent pattern of deception.

MacKinnon is only thinking about good governance, this has nothing to do with rushing a controversial bill through and limiting the opportunities for dissent. How dare you even suggest such a thing! www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
