Heck yeah, let's do it! Email anytime.
Never forget the first chat agent UI.
The response is amazing, isn't it? And I hope we get to work together again very soon, Kate. You're a wonderful writer. 🧡
Oh god, now you’re doing the same to me. Like when I remembered buying Ugly Kid Joe’s first album on tape. From Sam Goody, no less.
That’s easily 80% of my inbox these days. I get hit on both the CSS-Tricks and Smashing sides. My favorite are the timed follow-ups.
Feels like we’ve reached a point where our favorite releases from the 90s are closer to the favorite releases from the 60s than where we are in current times.
I love this idea! Makes a lot of sense even if there are CSS workarounds because those aren’t widely used and folks often reach for libraries for this sort of thing. And HTML is perfect for abstracting the need for regular JS cleanup.
I've used my newfound free time to put the finishing touches on a new album... that should be coming out really, really soon!
You're doing the most helpful thing possible — caring and saying it. That goes really far. 🧡
The Front-End Community is Still Alive and Beautiful
I thought about dropping an addendum into my last post to say just how overwhelmed I am, in the best possible way, by the way all of you in the...

As always, @bell.bz hits the nail on the head:
"Let me make it clear: without people at the top of their game sharing their experience and knowledge [...] we are pulling up the ladders and committing our industry to stagnation and death."
It's always an idea! I mean, DO owns the "brand" so to speak. At the same time, I'm still optimistic something will work out. I consider my work "paused" rather than "over."
And you're quite the resource as well, Ryan! I've definitely learned from you. 🧡
I do like to remind everyone time to time that I am a paid, professional musician.
It really, really is. I think we're all lucky to be part of a community like this. It's what made me a front-ender in the first place and still thrives despite the current climate of Things™. And you're very much a part of that, too!
Kevin's one of my favorite people and what he says here is incredibly sweet... and accurate.
I hadn't posted over on the second channel in a while now, but I felt that it was important to talk about what's going on with @digitalocean.com and @css-tricks.bsky.social as the site has now gone quiet for a second time. youtu.be/9_upvxCAUzM
Yeah I'm a good deal worried, too, Patrick. But probably more sad and disappointed more than anything else. And I think it goes beyond "get off my lawn" level. The thing we've loved and nurtured since we were kids is hanging on a pendulum that's swung so far to the right.
And I hope we get to work together like that again!
@css-tricks.bsky.social is once again stuck in an arbitrary suspension at the hands of DigitalOcean's radio silence. It is devastating to see such a brilliant publication treated so very poorly.
