There is exhaustion and then there is whatever this feeling is. I have had a full day of being deeply overwhelmed with love, joy, kindness, and the very best of academia. I’ve never felt quite so lucky (and, weirdly, so energised to keep going and do a load more) 🥂💖
As of today I am a Professor of Open Scholarship in Psychology! 🥂🩷

Piccie of me and @maddipow.bsky.social at Raworths Salon North last week. I was talking about ghosts and she about the forgotten voices of women in psychology.
The day has been long and full of teaching, supervision and meetings, but at least there was an excellent haul of books in my mail tray today.

'The word traceability, in place of reproducibility, [...] refers to the extent to which the decisions made by the researcher are transparently documented, allowing readers to see how conclusions were reached'

1. Feminist scholars
“Feminist scholarship has been talking about bias, reflexivity, representation, and power long before contemporary Open Research discourse”
Followed by an excellent talk from @maddipow.bsky.social on the marginalised researchers whose valuable expertise on openness should be better incorporated into our thinking on open research and research culture including women, indigenous scholars, and arts and humanities researchers.
Take home number 1:

*Undo injustice through citation
*Consider historical and cultural dimensions of who we credit

Who Built Open Research? Reclaiming the Intellectual Lineage of Open
LIVE from OpenFest 2026:
Our brilliant keynote speaker @maddipow.bsky.social asks us to confront why feminist scholars still struggle to be heard. What does this mean for open research, how is this serving us but more importantly, how can WE do better?
"Rearticulating open research through a qualitative lexicon, as we do here, does not dilute standards of quality [...] but simply relocates them within epistemic framing where interpretation, context, and collaborative meaning-making are central to knowledge production." Quite enjoyed this piece.
Leeds is well represented at #OpenFest26 in Sheffield today with a keynote from @maddipow.bsky.social, and Thom Freeth (@knowledgeen.bsky.social) & @nickshepp.bsky.social talking about Knowledge Equity & Open Scholarship week #KEOS26

On my way to #OpenFest2026 to give a keynote on open research and intellectual lineage and I’ve seen that my paper with Sarahanne Field on open research language & qualitative methodologies was just published!
I love @maddipow.bsky.social 's perspective here. I'm not convinced epistemological and linguistic issues are the real barriers to realising open research: we have to tackle the socio-political - & the psychological, too! Looking forward to Maddi's keynote at OpenFest tomoz @openresshef.bsky.social
