I’m just so proud to carry my community with me and to have our history recognized in this way. Thank you to the judges and the National Book Foundation for this honor, and congratulations to all of the finalists today!

That Which Feeds Us is a National Book Award Finalist!! We’re in the top 5 books in the country and heading to NYC (ON MY BIRTHDAY) for the awards ceremony. I’m still processing the news and what it means to be the 1st Native Hawaiian to reach this milestone.

Text from post in white against brown with darker brown design element. Cover art: THAT WHICH FEEDS US. Girl seated in vines of rotting fruit. Prettier than that sounds. White text. Mostly green. Blurb says, "Astounding."

If you’ve ever used Melanin in YA, you know it’s an invaluable resource for Black creatives and readers. The founder has funded this out-of-pocket for years but they need the writing community's help to keep operations running and scale up. (1/2)
